South West Water is main awards sponsor
Entries for the first Western Morning News business awards are now beginning to come in – with businesses of all sizes and sectors urged to nominate themselves and others.
It comes as the overall sponsor for the awards, which will be held on November 17, can be named as South West Water.
Chief executive Chris Loughlin said: “We support 5,000 jobs in the region and invest upwards of £140 million a year with hundreds of local suppliers so we are proud to sponsor the WMN’s business awards which highlight the very best the South West has to offer. This year, it is also an outstanding opportunity to introduce our own new Source for Business brand and talk to our commercial customers first hand about how we can help them cut costs and get extra value from our new expanded business to business services.”
The awards will be held at St Mellion International during Global Entrepreneurship Week. There are 14 awards and nominations can be made at www.wmnbusinessawards.co.uk.
Categories are: Business of the Year; Small Business of the Year; Customer Service Award; Employer of the Year; Excellence in Marketing Award; Best Tourism or Hospitality Business; Green Achievement Award; Best Creative Award; Best Business Support Through Mentoring or Education; Innovation of the Year; Best Business Start Up; Lifetime Achievement Award; Young Businessperson of the Year; Best Not For Profit Enterprise.
This week, private bankers Coutts came on board to sponsor the Small Business of the Year category.
Peter Blatchford, client partner at Coutts in Exeter, said: “There are lots of successful businesses in the South West and a large proportion of our existing clients in this region are actively engaged in entrepreneurial activity. We are excited to be partnering with the Western Morning News to sponsor the Small Business of the Year Award 2011. These awards further raise our profile in the local business community and emphasises our commitment to supporting entrepreneurs.”
Viridor and First Great Western have previously been announced as category sponsors.
Companies based in the WMN circulation area of Devon, Cornwall and parts of Somerset and Dorset are eligible to enter. The deadline for entries is September 9.
